Software Review: 4K Video Downloader

In this post, I wanted to discuss a very particular YouTube downloading program that I often use.

When I browse YouTube, there are always a few songs, videos or playlists that I enjoy and would like to play offline for my own personal use.

I used to go to different one-hit sites like Salvo, KeepVid, SaveVideo or others. They all work to some degree but there are a few difficulties that often show up. One of these is that the sites are often targeted by YouTube and forced to stop operating.

SaveVideo stopped operating.

Another is their own shortcomings: they can process the links only to a certain degree in terms of quality of audio and video. Yet another issue is that the links are not processed well because YouTube has "tweaked" their settings and so nothing is seen when you enter a link into the sites. Because of these numerous issues, I often find myself wanting something that I can use regularly, with ease and a certain degree of consistency.

Salvo cannot process playlists

This consistency has only been found in 4K Video Downloader (link below). I genuinely have a desire to download songs and videos for my own personal use on a somewhat regular basis. With 4K, I can download videos, audio and playlists with relative ease and a great deal of consistency. I very much appreciate this product only because I have sought many others that did not work as well. What do I mean by this and what I have used? Read below to find out!

In the beginning I used to use KeepVid. But they shutdown awhile back and even if you run their older software it fails to fetch the links from YouTube anymore. Another alternative was JDownloader but this program never works. I have regularly spent a couple of hours trying to get it to work but I simply am not able to fetch playlists easily. Still, another risk is that you have to download this particular program carefully otherwise you can get malware. This is widely noted and acknowledged by people who regularly use it. This is one of the risks of JDownloader. IDM works well for individual files but it downloads in MKV format and cannot download playlists. Another program is youtube-dl but that has to do with command prompts and is frankly not worth the hassle I get when using it. Also, youtube-dl has issues downloading playlists so we are at a similar impasse: difficulty of downloading playlists!

JDownloader and youtube-dl really don't work

In terms of consistency, efficiency and ease, 4K is the best of them all. It doesn't have any malware - real or apparent (as in being falsely detected by Windows Defender) - nor is it difficult to use. The free version is quite nice as it lets you download single videos with all options enabled. The only drawback is that you can only download the first 25 videos from a playlist and cannot download or even select any after the first 25.

I would honestly state another similar competitor if I knew of any but there really isn't. A few years ago there were a few but there's only 4K Video Downloader now. But this isn't a bad thing! The product genuinely works well - even its free edition. It doesn't have any malware or adware and is easy to setup and use. It consistently works and does not break or misunderstand the links given to it. I honestly recommend this product. I have actually installed this product on other peoples' computers because they used to download from websites but would get confused by pop-ups or fake download buttons. 

I do not force anyone to listen to my own experiences without experiencing things for themselves. Please give this program a try and see how well it works for you. Please let me know your personal experience in the comments below.
